    North West Motorbike Tours
North West Motorbike Tours give all riders the adventure passion of motorcycling and riding offroad trips to Vietnam Northwest provinces namely Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La…by dirt bike, moped, scooter. This subregion is located on right bank of Hong River. The remote northwest of Vietnam appeals to those wanting to get off the beaten track in one of Vietnam’s most beautiful, unaffected and untouristed areas. The travellers who do venture to Mai Chau, Son La and Dien Bien Phu often do so by way of a hired jeep and driver or do it by motorbike, while those striking straight north to Vietnam’s hilltribe capital of Sapa avail themselves of the comfortable and efficient overnight train to Sapa. Whichever way you’re headed, prepare yourself for stunning scenery as you pass through spectacular ravines and over breathtaking passes. Best known for the burgeoning trekking centre of Sapa, there is a lot more worth investigating in this part of the country. The remote French firebase of Dien Bien Phu remains a drawcard, but it’s as much the attraction of the trip there as the town itself that is worth visiting. A trip to Dien Bien Phu is easily combined with an approach to Sapa via “the back way” over the Fansipan pass (Vietnam’s highest), allowing for more stunning scenery and the opportunity to see some of the less touristed parts of the country. Another popular destinations is Mai Chau whose day-trekking and stunning scenery have helped it develop into a small tourist centre en-route to Dien Bien Phu — many trips from Hanoi run out to Mai Chau — and with good reason. It also forms a comfortable spot to rest those weary limbs before continuing onwards and up into the hills.

    1. 6 Days Red River Delta and Halong 6 Days Motorbike Tour Of Vietnam

      Day 1: Hanoi Motorbike Tour – Mai Chau. ~160 km, ~6 h.

Once out of the Red River Delta, which brims with traditional farming activity, we pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. We head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass, which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau where we spend the night with friends in a traditional Thai stilt house.

The valley of Mai Chau lies between two rivers: the Da River and the Ma River, which make it very fertile and rich in varied landscapes, medium mountains, forest, lake, rivers, and infinitude of small footpaths, which offer many possibilities of trek. In the valley of Mai Chau and its buttresses are Muong, White Thai, H’mong (in the height), and the Dao who we meet at the markets or in their villages during trekking, boating or while driving.

      Day 2: Mai Chau. ~50 km, ~2 h.

Option 1 Excursion by boat on the lake of Black river. Very calm and wild. Go up to the village of Man people. Mini trek to the waterfall. Picnic meal. Come back to Mai Chau to have diner and sleep in the stilt-house of Thai people.

Option 2 The other option is boating along Ma River. We drive for about 45 minutes to take the boat (all day). Picnic meal. Come back to Mai Chau to have diner and sleep in the stilt-house of Thai people.

Day 3: Mai Chau Motorbike Tour – Hoa Lu. ~180 km, ~8 h.

Beautiful landscape. Bumpy road but very quiet and peaceful. We bypass the scenic Perfume Pagoda and spend the night in 2-star Van Xuan Inter-hotel Complex.

Time permitting, we propose a short ride to Hoa Lu to visit the temples of Dinh and Le King, and then hike up Yen Ngua mountain where we could get a panoramic view of the whole region.

Day 4: Hoa Lu Motorbike Tour – Ninh Binh Motorbike Tour – Hai Phong Motorbike Tour – Cat Ba. ~165 km, ~6 h.

The road between Ninh Binh and Hai Phong is under construction and early departure is recommended. We meet the ferry to Cat Ba at 1.30 pm from Binh station and arrive in Cat Ba at 4 pm. We propose to promenade along the coast and then take a sampan to have dinner with seafood at a floating restaurant for dinner.

Day 5: Cat Ba Motorbike Tour – Ha Long Bay. Boating.

Breakfast at the hotel. The guide and the captain of the boat will go to market to buy food; you can go with them if you find it interesting. Boating starts at 10 am. Lunch with seafood on boat. Fishing and swimming. Visit local people in the floating village of Van Gia. Boating to Monkey Island. Dinner and sleep overnight on boat.

Cat Ba is the far end of Halong Bay. Cat Ba still live from the resource that the sea offer. The tourism is developed and of high quality. The Cat Ba Bay is a condensed of Halong Bay, its labyrinth of limestone so dense that it is difficult to imagine we are on the sea.

We created this itinerary – the floating village Van Gia. They are our personal friends and the relation with them is intimate, even knowing that some companies now also pass through there.

Last but not least, Monkey Island (Cat Dua Islet) was totally ignored by mass tourism when we propose to stop there. It has got nothing special beside the fact that there is nobody except monkeys and one family who takes care of their security.

Day 6: Cat Ba Motorbike Tour – Ha Long Motorbike Tour – Bai Chay Motorbike Tour – Hanoi. ~165 km, ~5 h.

Cruise through myriads of limestone to Halong Bay where labyrinth of limestone so dense that it is difficult to imagine we are on the sea. We arrive at Hai Ninh restaurant to have lunch before riding back to Hanoi. We estimate that you will arrive in Hanoi around 6 pm.

General rules for motorbike riding in Vietnam & Other country

It is claimed that riding motorbike in Vietnam & other country is not easy, especially for the inexperienced ones. However, it would be much easier for motorcyclists if they follow the rules and traffic laws of Vietnam & other country rigidly. To ensure that you have a safe motorcycle trip and lifetime experience in Vietnam, there are some regulations that you need to bear in mind:

    • Helmet is a compulsory equipment for motorbike riding
    • You should use the high-quality helmet which was certified by traffic safety management bureaus or helmets following international standards. If you use the cheap helmet, it could be dangerous in case of injuries and accidents.
    • In Vietnam, we follow the right hand side rule of traffic
    • Be confident and decisive when riding. Don’t freak out or be nervous.
    • Ride carefully and control the speed in different circumstances.
    • In Vietnam & other country, it is acceptable in using horn. Therefore, using it smartly because it could help you avoid undesirable cases. In some routes, there might be blind corners or crossroads, so it would be useful to utilize horn.
    • Give ways to bigger vehicles such as trucks, cars, buses or cart-transporting vehicles. It can ensure your safety and one thing for sure, they would take up for big parts of road surface.
    • Ride slowly when making a turn. It is important for you to push the light signals and sound so the left-behind vehicles are aware of your turn. However, you are advised to use your hand gesture and body language also because it would be more noticeable (waving hand when you want to turn left or right)
    • Show your respect and friendliness to people on the roads. Avoid conflicts with others because you don’t know who you are facing with.
    • Be friendly and chummy to other vehicle controllers when they greet you.
    • Be polite with the police. Don’t show out your abnormal or strange and suspicious behaviors on the road and the police will get no attention on you.
    • Drinking and riding should not be gone along.
